The Netherlands should declare Climate Emergency

About 25% of the Netherlands is already below sea level. With rising sea levels and an increase in the amount and the impact of storms The Netherlands is one of the most impacted places when it comes to climate change. This is why we demand that the government of The Netherlands follows the UK in declaring a climate emergency.

Yes yes yes this is so important! It seems like our government is hardly doing anything at all! Some political parties do not even believe in climate change or that we need to do something. It is quite terrifying. I really hope your campaign will make a difference. Definitely sharing this wherever I can!

If your country doesn't have a plan to meet/exceed the UN IPCC target, or if you're off track (many projects in your programme, the RAG is red) then that's a climate emergency. Be honest and call it. It just means "Help! I need more resources". It's too important not to collaborate over. Declaring CE does make a difference.

I got a response from the government of the Netherlands. But the campaign is not over yet, let's put more pressure! "Dear Ms Strand, Thank you for taking time to share your ideas and the campagin against climate change with us. I have forwarded your message to the Ministry of General Affairs to inform them of your views. They will be in touch with you only if they require any additional information. Sincerely, Chiara Arkesteijn Public Information Service, Government of the Netherlands"
