Climate love for vegetarian default food option

In our schoolbooks it is said that red meat has a bad effect on health and the climate. In most schools in Stockholm meat is served several times a week. However, at our school – Anna Whitlock’s high school – students are offered a variety of vegetarian and vegan options. Red meat from cow, pig and lamb is not on the menu.

Vegetarian food can often be associated with boring food. But that is not the case. We are served a wide range of organic, fresh and colorful food made from scratch. As students, we appreciate the thought put into our meals. And we feel as if we together make a difference.

Food choices have a large impact on our climate. During lunchtime all 2000 students get together and make a big difference. We need to act on every level of society. In our cafeteria we work with how the individual can affect – if we join hands. The small choices we make not only change our daily life but in the end our way of life.

To us, it is a given that if the schoolbooks tell us meat is bad for the climate – we should get the same message from our cafeteria. School is a place for innovation and trying new things. Therefore, we want to give love to Anna Whitlock’s high school for daring to take a stand – for the better of the planet!
Agree to this campaign to send climate love to the Anna Whitlock high school and inspire schools around the world to follow their example.

True. As a vegetarian, I find it very difficult to find something to eat when I am on the go and had not enough time to pack some home-made food. By increasing the selection of vegetarian and vegan foods in major supermarkets and at the same time making it affordable, more people would tend to join this no-meat movement. It would put an end or at least reduce the number of animals beings cruelly slaughtered. However, I decline to support almost militant vegan movements, who trespass properties and premises to make a point, thereby igniting solely the anger of people who are trying to make a living during already difficult economic times. This is not a way to convince such people, in my view, however, I am open to hear other people's viewpoints on this.
